About E. Ardell

E. Ardell Harris spent her childhood in Houston, Texas, obsessed with anything science fiction, fantastic, paranormal or just plain weird. She loves to write stories that feature young people with extraordinary talents thrown into strange and dangerous situations. She took her obsession to the next level, earning a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Southern Maine where she specialized in young adult genre fiction. She’s a big kid at heart and loves her job as a teen librarian at Monterey Public Library in Monterey, California, where she voluntarily shuts herself in rooms with hungry hordes of teenagers and runs crazy after-school programs for them. When she’s not working, she’s reading, writing, running writers critique groups, trying to keep up with a blog, and even writing fan fiction as her guilty pleasure.

Things that are scary, Part II: Another Character Journal Entry

Did Devon know my intentions before he wrote this? Nope. He wouldn’t have agreed. I told him that even I wouldn’t read this. He thought no one would see it. I’m good at being sneaky, and I’ll deny having anything to do with the leak…if it gets back to him. However, I don’t know how good you are, so you might choose to play it safe and not read this. Though, if you’re like me, you’re nosy. Take a peek, but try not to hint around to him that you know he keeps a journal. It’d ruin his manly image and all. 😉   Devon Ladreth’s Journal September 7, 2022 […]

Things that are scary… forcing my characters to write journal entries, lol.

Want a peek inside the heads of some of the characters from The Fourth Piece? Yikes! Why? Lol, just kidding. I have a series of journal entries to share. These entries were written by the characters close to the end of The Fourth Piece. I won’t tell the circumstances, no spoilers here ;D…but, if you’re brave, dive in!   From the Journal of Lyle Ladreth September 7, 2022 I’m writing because the doctor says I have to. He didn’t say I have to be profound, though. He said write whatever comes to mind. I’m not a writer. I draw. But I’m not an artist. I don’t think I am. A […]

I love doing readings!

I did another featured author slot at a local author event called Curated Words. The first reading I did there a few months ago set a record of how fast a person can read 10 pages. I didn’t think I was reading that fast, but one of my friends recorded me and when I played it back, wow. I was impressed. It was like listening to an audio book at 2X (which I do, because I’m a fast reader and can’t stand listening to things slower than I’d actually read them, lol.) So, this time around, I practiced before hand, and got some feedback from some writer buddies. Then, on […]

I’m doing a live reading tonight!

I live in a place full of fabulous people who love local authors. There’s a fabulous author event at Juice N Java in Pacific Grove, California that happens every last Thursday of the month called “Curated Words”. A hand-selected crew of authors is handed time slots and a live mic. Yours truly got invited to read a selection from “The Fourth Piece”. My first thoughts were: Really me? But won’t people expect poetry? My second thoughts were: These people are trusting ME with a mic? Are they nuts? (My inner diva comes out. I swear microphones are like enchanted objects… or laced with sugar and caffeine that can […]

“Big hey!” from new author, E. Ardell

Hey! My name’s E. Ardell (friends call me Ebs), and I’m excited to be here! I wrote my first story in the first grade and never stopped. Writing is life. I’m a Teen Librarian when I’m not writing. I love coming up with programs and interacting with that age group. They’re so fun. So, of course, I love to write YA and get their input on what they are currently reading and why. I’m nervous for them to read my stuff, but I guess I’ve got to get over that! This native Texan is ready to see her name on the cover of a book. I’ll dance, I’ll […]
