From the book blurb:
Lance Hampton used to be normal until a car accident killed him and his parents. Paramedics brought him back to a life he doesn’t want: orphaned, uprooted and living with his uncle, and suddenly able to see how people die. At his new school, he tries to keep to himself. Seeing how complete strangers die is torture enough, let alone friends.
Lance is one of my favorite characters to write. He’s a little troubled , but so likable that I have a bit of a crush on him, and hope those who read Foreshadowed will love him as much as I do. Here is a little bit about him:
Full name: Lance Archer Hampton
Birthday: Feb. 11th
Physical description: Lance has a tall, lean build. He doesn’t have bulky muscles in his arms and legs, but he’s strong and toned. He used to play sports, and still exercises regularly. He gets bored easily, so he mixes up the routine.
He has dark hair and dark green eyes. His face is very defined—sharp cheekbones, full lips. It’s not a soft face. His features are hard, but alluring.
He wears black most of the time. It’s his way of showing the world he’s mourning. Before his parents died, he wore other colors, but they don’t really appeal to him anymore. Besides, he hopes if he looks dark and moody people will avoid him, saving him the trouble of either acting like a complete jerk, or accidentally looking in their eyes.
Favorite Food: Meat Lover’s Pizza
Hobbies/Interests: Before his parents died, Lance liked to play sports (wrestling, basketball, and football). He also liked reading, hanging out with friends, and spending time with his girlfriend Debbie. Now, he doesn’t have a lot of time for hobbies.
Favorite movie/TV show: Lance likes quirky, witty comedies. His uncle watches a lot of military and survival documentaries or reality shows, and Lance doesn’t mind those either. His guilty pleasure is Kung Fu movies.
Fears: Driving in a car.
Weaknesses: Physically, he’s plagued with headaches—and often migraines. Mentally, he has anxiety attacks as well as mood swings. He is sometimes impatient. He’s a little pessimistic.
Strengths: When he commits to something, he sees it through. He’s honest. He can be romantic and occasionally very kind.
Secrets: His ability to see how people die.
Here is what Hope, the main character, says about Lance during their first conversation:
He looks like the epitome of every misunderstood bad boy with a heart of gold in every stupid teen movie ever made. Except for his hair. His hair makes him look more like a clueless kid who has absolutely no idea how to be cool…and something tells me Lance knows how to be cool.
